A small colorful handpainted Chinese enameled brass bowl with decorations of butterflies, persimmons and peonies that was made in the 1930's.
A thin brass bowl has been enameled in pink, blues, white, and turquoise on a yellow ground. The interior is enameled in turquoise as is the base. The bowl has a classic Chinese shape. The mouth rim and the foot ring show the dark oxidized brass.
MADE IN CHINA is stamped mark in black on the base.
MEASUREMENTS
4 ½ in (11.4 cm) diameter x 1 7/8 in (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 3.4 oz.
CONDITION
There is crazing and a few small nicks to the enamels both inside and outside the bowl. The brass edges are oxidized and have a rich patina.
A colorful bowl that has much hand work and artistry.
