This is an original croquis (fashion design) that was from Hubert de Givenchy’s Fall-Winter 1995-96 haute couture collection. This collection was the LAST of Givenchy's work before he retired at the end of 1995 after a 43 year career. The fashion plate will come with documentation. It also includes a copy of the personal "thank you" signed by Givenchy that was included in the runway brochure as it was his LAST couture event! The croquis was sent by invitation to private clients to attend the haute couture runway show featuring the season’s 1995-1996 Fall-Winter Collection. This one was sent to a prominent French socialite. The design was one of four placed in a folder and represented a sample of the collection to its clientele. The detailed documentation notes styling, fabric, accessories, makeup, fragrances, shoes, jewelry etc. even the music that would be used in the runway show. The croquis is in MINT condition…clean and pristine. The colors are crisp. This fashion design is done on thick stock. It showcases the classic tailored suit with a silhouette of sculptured shoulders and cinched waist in copper tone. It is paired with a lighter toned skirt. Note the single breasted buttons on the jacket closure as well as on the sleeves, the coordinating beret-styled cap and, of course, the earrings and stance. . Perfect for today's fashionista.
