About Société Française de Porcelaines
Société Française de Porcelaines (SFP) was established in Foëcy, France, in the mid-20th century following the closure of an earlier local porcelain manufactory. While Limoges is the most famous French porcelain center, Foëcy in the Berry region (Cher department) has its own distinguished porcelain heritage dating back to the early 19th century. Notably, the renowned American importer David Haviland began by importing porcelain from Foëcy before establishing his famous factory in Limoges in 1840. The Berry region developed a reputation for quality porcelain production that rivaled its more famous neighbor.
In 1983, SFP merged with the renowned Anciens Établissements Louis Lourioux to consolidate operations and strengthen their position in the French porcelain market. This union brought together decades of artisanal expertise and traditional craftsmanship. The combined company was later acquired by the prestigious Deshoulières family, who had deep roots in French porcelain manufacturing dating back centuries.
Pieces from Société Française de Porcelaines exemplify the refined elegance of mid-century French decorative arts, featuring delicate hand-painted designs and quality craftsmanship that made French porcelain renowned worldwide.
