This 19th century lithograph by Félix Benoist (1818–1896) presents a detailed bird’s-eye view of Paris under the reign of Francis I, based on old plans and drawings. The city is depicted encircled by its walls, with the Seine flowing prominently through its center, highlighting historic landmarks and districts. Francis I, who ruled France from 1515 until his death in 1547, ushered in a period of Renaissance influence, making this print both historically and artistically significant.
