the aluflex chair was originally designed by armin wirth in 1951 for rudolf steiner's anthroposophical school in zurich, switzerland.



* special features

+ first, very rare edition from the early 1950s - with metal brackets on the back and in a very beautiful, elegant finish in (we assume) walnut wood (real wood veneer)

+ awarded the "good design" prize in 1953.

+ made of 5-ply beech plywood - here additionally finished with real wood veneer and a frame made of corrosion-resistant and colorless anodized aluminum.

+ lightweight (3 kg) - making it easier to transport and furnish rooms

+ ergonomic & high seating comfort - the flexible backrest is made of 5-ply plywood, thus conforming to every body position.

+ stackable & functional: economical horizontal stacking (nesting). The space required for 100 nested aluflex chairs is only 4.5 meters.

+ the aluflex chairs are multi-purpose chairs - which, due to its many highly practical features make it particularly well-suited for theaters, concert halls, lecture halls, multi-purpose buildings, schools, gymnasiums, community centers, and more.

+ due to its many practical and aesthetic features, as mentioned above, the aluflex chair has been reissued. However, the version with this beautiful wood finish—as seen here—is no longer available.

+++ two identical sets of four chairs are available and are offered separately in another listing. The condition of the chairs in the other set is not identical—hence the separate listing. +++

condition
good and well-maintained vintage condition, with the usual—but not serious—signs of wear on the aluminum and wood surfaces. These are due to age and use.

+ these include occasional small to medium surface scratches, minor dents, and nicks. Minor imperfections or occasional small bumps on the veneer are present, but these are mostly angular and not found on all chairs.

+ additionally, there are age-related, light-induced, and usage-related color variations on the wood surface.

+ there are insignificant, minor surface scratches/scuffs on the aluminum.

+ completely stable and durable, without any breaks or other damage to the wood or the aluminum frame.
