Mid Century modern violet and blue violet Floral Tray with a well executed iris in center.
This lovely tray was made for about 3 months in the early 1960’s by Couroc of Monterey California. Couroc serving pieces are cherished gifts because of their variety and beauty of design. All Couroc trays were Hand inlaid by master craftsmen, using natural shells, coins, woods, and metals fused into satin black phenolic with a proprietary method. The black phenolic is impervious to alchohol and boiling water or cups. This tray should be hand Washed with mild soap and water. Couroc trays add a touch of mid-century modern style to your home and this particular Iris tray is a very sought after design due to its minimalist design. The Iris inlay was Handcrafted from reclaimed wood, brass and a crushed stone material. It’s a perfect tray for bringing a vibrant pop of color and dramatic contrast to your decor. Its size makes it ideal for serving drinks, and appetizers. The tray can also be used as a catchall on a dresser or as a makeup and perfume bottle holder on a vanity. I’ve seen many art collectors frame up Couroc trays as they are spectacular works of art and no two are exactly alike. I have watched Couroc trays steadily rise in value over the past 10 years and they will not only hold their value but continue to increase in value due to the scarcity of them in the market. Couroc could not mass produce their trays due to the hand made nature of the process. Every artisan that worked at Couroc was a master artist.

Very minimal scratches on front or back surface and black phenolic remains shiny. I suspect this tray was mostly on display and not used much if at all. less
