This vintage Blenko #5828L pitcher in Mulberry from 1958 was designed by Wayne Husted. The combination of this design and color were produced for only one year in 1958. Additionally, the #5828 pitcher was made in two sizes, identified as S for small, or L for large. This pitcher is the larger version, making it even more special. The last time a #5828L came up for public auction was in 2013, so it doesn’t come up very often.
The pitcher is hand blown with an optic design, which makes the color of this piece change according to different lighting, taking on hues from smoke to lavender to plum to purple, adding to its visual appeal.
