This is Vintage Trays with the Four Gentlemanly Plants. All four trays are a set. They are lacquer painted on good quality wood with mother-of-pearl plants’ decoration on them. These four plants (cherry blossom, bamboo, orchid, chrysanthemum) symbolize the quality of gentleman, so they are called “The Four Gentlemanly Plants (Sagoonja)”
They are good quality, noble-looking trays. They are just perfect for special guests invited for a tea or coffee-drinking gathering.
They were bought in the 1970s from Insadong, Seoul, South Korea, where the best quality artists’ works and craftsmen’s product are being sold.
