- Looks to be hand carved. Some minor roughness in the fluting due to usage over the years. Back of lid … moreLooks to be hand carved. Some minor roughness in the fluting due to usage over the years. Back of lid at the hinge has some play , some wiggle . It may be that the original hinge is too delicate for the weight of the stone lid. It’s not broken but I would handle it carefully. Slight dullness to the lid less
