An etching and aquatint by the American artist Martin Barooshian (1929-2022). Titled "Quadriga," the work has a medallion with a chariot rider near the lower center of the rectangular composition. A blue and orange background with abstract patterns surrounds the medallion. Signed, titled, and numbered XII/XV to the lower edge, the work is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame and white mat.
Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Barooshian studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as well as receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Art History from Boston University. He also studied at Atelier 17 in Paris under Stanley William Hayter. Barooshian taught at the Pratt Institute and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His works are in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
