Helen Hyde (1868-1919) born in New York and spent her formative years in California. Helen was an excellent artist, engraver and etcher, known for her portrayal of Japanese women and child, this charming reflects both - A MOTHER & CHILD.
Graduating from Wellesley College for Girls, San Francisco Art Design and San Francisco Art Insititute , Hyde was introduced to the "Japonism" movement and the paintings of Mary Cassett American Impressionism. Hyde's works are held in the Library of Congress and Smithsonian American Art in Washington DC together with many private collections.
