(image) Handsigned by the artist in pencil Certificate of authenticity Arches paper Circa 1980 Giants climb a tiny mountain, a bird with a human face hovers like a sentinel, a traveler rises, carried by two fish. Above this whimsical scene, a spiral sun does not shine, but folds in on itself. These figures inhabit a world where the laws of physics falter, where logic eludes us, where metaphor takes on gravity. In Matta's work, the absurd is never gratuitous. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
