A refined pair of Mid-Century Modern walnut nightstands, American-made and likely dating to the early 1960s. These cabinets present a clean, architectural silhouette in beautifully figured walnut, paired with newly added metal hairpin legs that introduce a light, sculptural lift to the original design. The proportions are particularly well-balanced, giving the pair a strong presence while remaining compact enough for contemporary interiors.
Each nightstand features a single hinged door opening to a practical interior compartment with one shelf, allowing for versatile storage. The two cabinets are mirrored opposites—an uncommon and desirable detail that enhances both symmetry and visual balance when placed on either side of a bed, sofa, or reading chair. The walnut casework shows attractive grain and warm coloring, reflecting the craftsmanship characteristic of American mid-century furniture.
The original wood legs were replaced with modern metal hairpin legs, creating a pleasing contrast between the natural walnut and the lighter, more contemporary steel profile. This update enhances both the stability and the aesthetic range of the pieces, making them well suited to interiors that blend vintage and modern elements.
The pair is in good vintage condition with scattered signs of age and use. Several corners show earlier repairs, and one cabinet has surface scratches to the front along with light discoloration and other expected imperfections throughout. The interior shelf of one nightstand appears to be a later replacement, presenting a slightly different tone than the surrounding walnut. One cabinet has experienced more sun exposure over time, resulting in a lighter finish and a noticeable color variation between the two pieces. Despite these distinctions, both nightstands remain structurally sound, fully functional, and visually appealing with an authentic mid-century presence.
With thoughtful proportions measuring 24.5 inches high, 22 inches wide, and 17.5 inches deep, the nightstands offer generous storage capacity without overwhelming a space. Their blend of classic walnut construction, mirrored configuration, and updated leg design results in a pair that is both visually striking and highly practical.
A handsome and versatile addition to any mid-century–inspired bedroom or living environment.
