We stumbled unto this character mirror by accident! And by character we mean one that has developed a personality of its own long after it was created. A now unique piece that has had time and atmosphere due their part on it.
How this mirror—which we believe is at the minimum an early 1900s but probably 1800s creation—got those two interior windows like portions so distressed is going to be a mystery! But it's what sets it apart. All this distressed beauty inside a gilded intricate narrow frame with a heavy wooden support to back it all up.
So the mirror has had a rough life, including a under the surface crack on the right side (not felt when running a finger over it); as if to say what more can you do to me?
Oh and it came with a Christie's tag, so at some point it went through the auction house's hands.
