Origin gualdo tadino period late 19th century brand paolo rubboli (1838–1890) was the founder of the historic ceramics factory in gualdo tadino, specialized in the revival of the metallic luster technique, a process of middle eastern origin made famous in italy in the 16th century by master giorgio andreoli. This technique, based on the application of metallic salts on already glazed and fired artefacts, requires a third firing in a reducing atmosphere, which generates the characteristic golden and ruby ​​reflections. Rubboli, supported by his wife daria vecchi and various collaborating artists, produced ceremonial plates, vases and table services decorated with grotesques and renaissance motifs, contributing to relaunching the umbrian ceramic tradition. Upon his death, management passed first to his wife and then to his sons alberto and lorenzo rubboli. In the 1920s the company took the name of società ceramica umbra, active between gualdo tadino and gubbio, until its dissolution in 1931. The works signed rubboli – gualdo tadino are therefore attributable to the period 1931–1936. Materials ceramic painted with metallic luster dimensions ø 42.5 cm d 5.5 cm approx. Conditions the plate is in very good condition, as can be seen from the attached photos. It has a thin, not particularly significant hairline, visible in the photo at 10 o’clock.
