Early 20th-Century Railroad Lantern with 4½-Inch Red Short Globe
Steel railroad signal lantern, circa 1915–1940, fitted with the desirable 4½-inch red short globe, a scarcer early short-globe form preceding the widespread postwar versions. Features full wire guard, swing handle, and complete burner/fount assembly. A strong, compact railroad signal lantern with the rarer original red short globe, used for stop and danger indication. This lantern was made by the R.E. Dietz Company. The lantern has original stampimg of Dietz - NYCC (New York Central Station).
