Fine 18th Century mezzotint print depicting a portrait of German Aristocrat Paulus A Stetten. Engraved by George Bathasar Probst in 1730 after a painting by Gottfried Eichler. Lettering in Latin at the bottom of the print indicates Paulus was born in 1643 and died in 1729.
Condition is very good for age. Some very minor expected discoloration.
Signed on the bottom of the print with the engravers name and original painters name.
The plate was engraved in 1730 and the print was struck sometime in the 18th Century.
This/these prints would look so right in a study, lawyers office, judges' chamber, library or a legal firm.

Exposed image is 17" x 11 1/2". With matting 22" x 16". The original paper size is 18 x 12 1/2".
Further reading: Mezzotint was the first tonal process to be used in printmaking and allowed the engraver to do produce subtle shadings utilizing half-tones without the need for line-or dot-based techniques
