Very fine 18th mezzotint print from the painting by Johann Kupezky executed in 1732. The engraving was executed in 1745 by Georg Martin Preisler. Kupezky & Preisler are reknowned 18 Century artists.
Portrait of Johannes Sigismun due Holzschuher from Aschbach, Germany. Johannes served as a provincial proto-commissioner and military commander. He was born September 13, 1677 and died February 11, 1742.
Condition is very good for age. Some loss to corners which are covered by the matting.
Signed at the bottom edge in the plate as shown. Dated 1745.
This/these prints would look so right in a library, study, lawyers office, judges chambers or a legal firm.

Exposed image is 18" x 12 1/4". With matting 22 1/2" x 16 1/2". Original paper is about 19" x 13".
Further reading: Mezzotint was the first tonal process to be used in printmaking and allowed the engraver to do produce subtle shadings utilizing half-tones without the need for line-or dot-based techniques.
