The scene shows one man kneeling to sow seeds while another, carrying a large bundled load on his head, steps forward with energy and determination. Agricultural tools appear in the foreground, and the distant pyramidal structures and ships suggest european imagination or commercial trade activity linked to coastal ports. Drawn by j. Kuyper and engraved by l. Portman, this print was produced in the netherlands circa 1810 as part of an influential ethnographic series illustrating global cultures during the european age of exploration. The hand coloring remains vivid, with fresh blue, yellow, and earth tones that bring depth and life to the composition. This is both a visually appealing cultural portrait and a significant artifact of early anthropological representation — perfect for collectors of african history, ethnography, and antique travel prints. Condition report: good condition overall with minor age toning and a few scattered spots in the margins. Image area strong and clean. No major flaws. Ready for framing. Framing tips: a brown or black hardwood frame with a warm white or lightly textured mat will enhance the rich colors and period feel. Technique: hand-colored copperplate engraving maker: j.
