This is a Highboy Dresser that is part of a matching 5 piece Walnut wood bedroom set made in 1960 by Danish designer, mathematician, inventor, and poet Piet Hein. This style set was exclusively retailed for Daniel Jones NYC, with this exact set having been purchased from the original owners in Brooklyn NY after 65 years of ownership. The set features two nightstands, a large triple dresser, a highboy dresser, and a full XL (possibly queen) size headboard. The pieces have a very unique space age styling with a exoskeleton like floating sculptural wood frame that supports each piece. The frame is bolted to each piece with thick brass tube spacers that show off between the sides. The top edge and sides of the pieces show off a beautiful hand carved basket weaving style pattern that is very unique to this set. All of the brass handles are original with a sleek but simple design. The tall boy dresser features a unique bowtie shape on the bottom half qith the drawers having a slight 'V" like shape. All of the opening cabinet doors on all 4 pieces feature a metal ball and spring door catch that allows the doors to firmly shut. All 5 pieces are unrestored and original but have had some slight repairs over the years. This is a 65 year old set of furniture and of course has some flaws, but nothing that wouldnt arise from normal use. There are imperfections, but everything displays beautifully! Throughout the set here are no makers marks to be found, there are a few drawers stamped with a date code of "DEC 1960". Piet heins other furniture that I have seen appear to never have makers marks in the first place, and his styling is unmistakeably recognizable when found.
