What a pretty pink and green hand-painted porcelain dogwood flower Nippon shaving mug from the 1890's. This charming piece with gold-leaf trim, can be transformed into a bathroom makeup or toothbrush holder, tiny planter, home desk accessory, or whatever your imagination allows. These one-of-a-kind pieces were used back in the day as men's personalized shaving mugs--some were used in barbershops with their individual initials and kept for them for their regular barbershop visits. Others were hand-painted by family and friends, and given as gifts (like this one). Great current gift as well! This piece is in excellent antique condition with a normal bit of wear from age and use--no cracks, chips, or crazing.
