This chair is a faux-bamboo armchair in the classic style associated with John Rosselli designs—light, airy, and influenced by Chinoiserie and British Colonial furniture. It has a sculptural silhouette with gracefully curved elements and densely spaced “bamboo” turnings that give it an elegant, handcrafted feel.
Frame Material & Finish
The frame is crafted from wood carved to resemble bamboo canes, including segmented nodes and slightly irregular shaping to mimic natural growth.
The finish is a light natural wood tone, possibly a pickled or limed finish, with intentional tonal variations and small areas of visible distressing, which is characteristic of Rosselli’s softly aged aesthetic.
Backrest
The back features a gentle Yoke-style crest rail, wider at the center and curving downward toward the posts.
Below the crest is a series of vertical, closely spaced faux-bamboo spindles, creating an open, delicate back structure.
The upper back posts rise slightly above the arm level and are capped by rounded faux-bamboo “nodes,” giving the form both verticality and ornamentation.
Arms
The arms are crafted from the same faux-bamboo carved wood and sweep gently outward before curving down into the front posts.
Each arm has small turned vertical supports aligned with the spindle motif of the back, reinforcing the overall design harmony.
Seat
The seat is an upholstered, drop-in cushion with a boxed or lightly rounded profile.
Fabric: A striped upholstery textile featuring vertical stripes in soft tones—sage green, lavender, muted aqua, cream, and taupe. The palette is fresh but subtle, consistent with Rosselli’s coastal and garden-inspired looks.
Legs & Base
Legs are straight but crafted with full faux-bamboo articulation, including carved joints and nodes.
The chair includes a perimeter stretcher system—front, sides, and back—also rendered in faux-bamboo turnings. This structurally stabilizes the slender form, as is common in bamboo-inspired furniture.

There's one spot where the chair was repaired with some glue, and another area with a crack in the wood. However this chair has a distinct distressed finish. I'm happy to include any additional photos of concern. less
