This fine piece of ovoid shaped stoneware crock was produced by the J. A. & C. W. Underwood Pottery in … Read more This fine piece of ovoid shaped stoneware crock was produced by the J. A. & C. W. Underwood Pottery in Fort Edward New York from 1865 to 1867. It has an overall good finish for its age, with very few discolorations to its glaze. Has normal ware to the bottom of the piece and show no signs of major cracks or crips. It has the original free hand cobalt blue design which was done by one of the workers at the pottery. These pieces were sold to be used in home food storage and or preparation such as sauerkraut or pickles. In today's time they are used as decorative items for holding utensils on kitchen counters, holding magazine in a reading area, or just as a piece of American history art. This piece is a 3 gallon crock that measures 12" tall, with a circumference of about 11". Also, this is a piece from our private collection. See less
