During the mid-nineteenth century, the singer company became world-famous with its invention of the sewing machine. In 1910, the company launched a range of professional furniture for the textile industry, the centrepiece of the collection a stool with a cast-iron base and wooden seat. The wooden seat is height adjustable via lockable wing nut. Cast singer manufactures mark to base legs, there is a historical repair to the base. Dimensions: seat height: min 43cm – max 57cm approx seat width 30cm depth between feet 29cm origin: factory, bradford, uk circa: 1940 workshop report: overall vintage condition, cast metal in original condition with a repair to the legs, the stool retains its locking wing nuts, wood and metalwork waxed for future protection. There are some markings to the wooden seat in places.
