Milton Glaser ( 1929 - 2020 ) American born of a Jewish background, is among the most celebrated graphic designers whose most recognized works included the I Love NY logo, the DC Comics logo, the iconic 1966 Bob Dylan poster, as well as the 1960's posters for The Olivetti Valentine Typewriter, amongst many others. In 1954, he co-founded Push Pin Studios, co-founded New York Magazine, and established Milton Glaser Inc.
He has had the distinction of being the only graphic designer to have had solo exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art New York, and The Georges Pompidou Centre Paris. His many awards include being selected for The Cooper Hewitt Design Museum's Lifetime Achievement Award and he was the first graphic designer to ever receive The National Medal of The Arts.
Glaser is considered by many to be the embodiment of the American graphic designer. His presence and impact on the profession internationally is formidable. Immensely creative and articulate, he is a Modern Renaissance man - one of a rare breed of intellectual designer illustrators, who brings a depth of understanding and conceptual thinking, combined with a diverse richness of visual language, to his highly inventive and individualistic work.
