This 1880s Early American Pattern Glass tray is attributed to Hobbs, Brockunier & Co., makers of the celebrated Clover and early opalescent Francisware lines. The scalloped four-lobed clover form, combined with the raised hobnail interior and vivid yellow crimped rim, reflects the firm’s pioneering use of uranium-tinted and heat-reactive glass during the late-Victorian period.
The piece measures approximately 13 inches and displays the strong visual contrast characteristic of Hobbs’ specialty serving wares, often marketed for lemonade or table presentation. Its bold color and sculptural form represent an important phase in American opalescent production.
