Small mid 19th century swedish painted pine strong box circa 1842.
Beautiful small scandinavian strong box, presented with scraped back paint to reveal original. Feintly still bearing its 1842 date, slight blue wash on the metalwork, contrasting with the base colour. Original hinges and carrying handles. Lid opens to reveal a later painted interior, complete with candle box.
Expected surface marks and minor age splits, robust piece and ready for everyday use.
