Made from solid oak in the Cerdagne region between the 1920s and 1940s, each chair features a finely sculpted Sol de Cerdagne — a radiant sun face symbolizing warmth, light, and protection — above a delicate heart-shaped cut-out.

The tapered legs are hand-carved with repeating semicircular motifs, a hallmark of traditional mountain woodworking. Visible mortise-and-tenon joints, secured with wooden pegs, attest to authentic artisanal construction. One chair bears a small restoration at the base of a leg, executed with wood paste, and both show minor play typical of early handcrafted furniture.

The surface displays a stunning natural patina, with soft golden tones and the deep grain of waxed oak enhanced by age.
Stable, sculptural, and full of character, this pair would bring a refined rustic touch to an alpine chalet, a Mediterranean home, or an eclectic contemporary interior.
