This impressive 19th-century French terracotta jar showcases the timeless beauty of southern craftsmanship.
Hand-thrown and wood-fired, it features a generous rounded body narrowing toward the base, a wide rim, and three rustic hand-pulled handles.
The surface reveals a remarkable natural patina, combining shades of ochre, amber, earthy brown, and green.
The upper section is coated with a thick honey and olive-green glaze showing subtle iridescent reflections and flowing drips of darker tones — a testimony to traditional kiln firing.
The lower part remains matte, with traces of age, mineral deposits, and natural weathering that give the piece its authentic character.
A fine age-related hairline on the rim is visible in the photos and does not affect the stability or integrity of the jar.
with its sculptural presence and warm tones, this jar makes a striking decorative statement — whether in a Mediterranean garden, a wabi-sabi interior, or a refined modern space.
