This was Mackintosh's first major private commission, providing him with the opportunity to showcase his ideas on furniture design. It is one of the most iconic chairs by the renowned Scottish architect and painter, a pioneer of the Glasgow Movement. The chair is recognizable by its elongated backrest with an oval finial featuring a cutout resembling a bird in flight.
