this finely hand-painted piece features the famous rouen polychrome pattern, with floral scrolls in deep cobalt blue, green, and yellow on a soft cream background.
the bowl’s fluted shape and fish-shaped handles in green barbotine reflect the high craftsmanship of the montagnon workshops, one of the oldest faience dynasties in nevers, active since the 18th century.

signed “gm” for gabriel montagnon under the glaze.
originally made as a fruit or centerpiece bowl, it is also equipped with its original hanging system, allowing it to be used as a wall decoration — a striking accent in a kitchen, dining room, or country home.
