The work is laid out as a sequence of short lines in elegant script, each beginning with the character 一 (“ichi”, one), forming a concise list of timeless principles: cultivate calm, avoid haste, acknowledge one’s own faults. The piece is signed at the lower margin with a red hanko seal. See less
