The carving depicts a man and a woman in a boat, dressed in traditional attire with expressive features — characteristic of the Ainu woodcarving tradition from Hokkaido.

The top features carved Japanese characters 神威岬 (Kamui Misaki) — literally “Cape of the Gods,” a well-known location in Hokkaido often associated in Ainu folklore with protective spirits of the sea and nature.
