This chairs are a quite exceptional example of their type. They have been constucted using the highest grade of walnut timbers available at the time and the decorative tendencies of those lovely veneers and their careful placement still shows through to this day. The timbers have also retained a lovely untouched warm colour.
In terms of the construction there is so man different areas of note which are superior to 99% of other similar chairs of a similar date. All of the carved decoration is deep and rich, superbly executed and has a real crispness to it as well as the obvious elegance. The shaped seats and cabriole legs also add a further touch of elegance and sophistication of course.
In terms of condition then when taking into account these chairs are nearly 300 years old then it is certainly very good. There is evidence of various minor historic repairs and some very minor losses to veneers and carving in places, but this is all historic and very much blended into the overall patina of the chairs. The seat covers have also been in place for some time and although quite attractive and presentable there are some small markings on them. The seats could be easily recovered at relatively minor expense to a fabric of ones choosing at a later date no problem at all should you wish.
As with all items which we offer for sale these chairs have been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers to ensure that they are in the best condition possible before being placed on sale. They are certainly ready for immediate placement within the home environment.
