It was used primarily by the Faenza factories, but also by those of Casteldurante; unknown to the Urbino majolica, it was also widely used in Venice, where it characterizes the somewhat crude ornamental genre known as "foliage," in two shades of blue with highlights of tin white applied throughout.

The central section of the stand depicts a ruined tower against a mountain landscape in the background; the outermost circular section is decorated with a brown oily glaze, creating a particularly pleasing effect.
