Exquisite French Aubusson tapestry from the mid-20th century, featuring a beautiful design by « François Faureau » « François Faureau, born on November 27, 1902 in Aubusson, where he died on May 15, 1997[1], was a painter, cartoonist, tapestry weaver and engraver ». The tapestry shown is a rectangular panel with intense colors dominated by blues, cream tones, black, and bursts of orange and yellow. The piece seems to explore a dynamic, almost liquid universe, where shapes appear to tear, repeat, and reflect like in a fractured mirror or a landscape in motion. This tapestry is a fragment of a work that was originally intended to be higher. It represents only a portion of the original project, which explains why the motifs seem to extend beyond the preserved section. It does not bear the artist's monogram or signature. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful piece. woven entirely by hand in wool in a renowned workshop in Aubusson. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
