This chair was manufactured by Wittmann Austria in the 1980s. It is marked with the original metal plate.
Many times the design is also attributed to Kolomon Moser, but Johannes Spalt (1920-2010), professor at the University für angewandte Kunst in Viena, finished his research with the conclusion that it was Josef Hoffmann's design and not Koloman Mosers'.
The Purkersdorf Sanatorium was built 1904/05 by architect Josef Hoffmann, a disciple of Otto Wagner, the founder of modern architecture in Austria. It is an example of architecture from the Vienna Secession and paved the way for modern architecture. 
The chair is made of white lacquered solid beech wood and has a black and white woven straps-seating. The matching cushion is with it.
The black and white colour scheme and quadratic motifs of this chair were a continuum throughout the foyer of Hoffmann's Purkersdorf sanatorium.
