A vintage Persian Kilim scatter sofreh flat-weave from the middle of the 20th century.
4'2'' x 4'4''
Sofrehs are woven by Persian tribes as part of the dowry, used as floor spreads on which they would offer food for special guests. Their diminutive size and their abstract patterns make them ideal as wall hangings in today’s' interiors. The sofreh of the Kamo people, related to the Bakhtiari tribe in west Persia, have a special appeal in that they resemble modern abstract paintings. This example is a particularly brilliant example for this type of rare tribal weaving.
