Absolutely stunning French mid-19th century walnut armoire from Provence, with bonnet cornice, carved bouquet, molded door panels and foliage motifs. Born in southern France this walnut Provençale armoire features a "chapeau de gendarme" bonnet-type cornice, accented with an exquisite carved display of flowers and scrolls. Two large doors with molded panels are highlighted with foliage motifs and open to reveal four fixed inner front shelves offering great storage opportunities.
. Adorned with both flute and reed motifs on the side posts, the armoire is raised on four feet, scrolled in the front and straight in the back. With its great proportions, skillfully carved adornments and lovely walnut patina, this statement French wardrobe or armoire will bring a strong presence to any bedroom or living room. Or use it as a linen press to hold towels and bath products or sheets and linens. So many possibilities ! We love the elegant yet rustic charm of this piece. Following see more details on the shelf space dimensions. Beautiful vintage tassels are included. This armoire is two large main pieces for easier moving and placement, and the large "crown" on the top can be lifted off too making it three pieces. Very helpful for mving it in.
