Each piece bears the mark of Jones, Shepherd & Co., Church Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, dating to 1867. The firm was founded by Josiah Ellis Jones and Alfred Shepherd. Previously, Thomas Hobson had been a partner but left the company in January 1867; shortly after, in February 1868, Alfred Shepherd also withdrew, and J. E. Jones continued the business on his own. Consequently, this set can be precisely dated to the year 1867. The mark features the Staffordshire knot, a traditional emblem long associated with the region and frequently used by potters in Stoke-on-Trent as part of their trademarks. This symbol appeared around 1845 and became particularly popular during the 1870s and 1880s, often accompanied by the initials or names of the manufacturers. Special attention should be given to the floral decoration adorning all the pieces: the main flowers are inspired by wild roses (Rosa canina), accompanied by small blue forget-me-nots (Myosotis)—motifs commonly found in Victorian ornamental design. The composition is completed by green, serrated leaves typical of the Rosaceae family, forming a graceful floral garland. The contrast between larger blooms and tiny blossoms, together with the refined color palette, perfectly reflects the decorative taste of the Victorian era. For reference, this mark is listed as No. 2223 on page 360 of the Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks. The pieces are in good overall condition.
