A distinctive piece of Polish Art Glass designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz for Huta Tarnowiec in the 1970s.
This vase features a voluminous, teardrop-shaped body in a rich opaline pink (selenium pink). The minimalist form is accented by a unique detail at the neck: a thick thread of clear glass applied in a spiral coil (hot-worked trailing). This transparent, ringed detail creates a playful geometric contrast against the smooth, organic curves of the pink body.
At 8.5 inches tall, it has a substantial presence and perfectly captures the eclectic, experimental spirit of Postmodern design behind the Iron Curtain.
