Exquisite Federal Giltwood Trumeau mirror with Eglomise Reverse Painted Tablet. Likely late 18th century. Eglomise is a decorate art technique in which the back side of the glass is gilded and painted. Because the artwork is done in reverse on the back of the glass, the final image appears smooth and glossy when seen from the front.
This beautiful piece is in good condition with some cracks and chips to the gilt. Some foxing to the mirror. Please see pictures.
