This mid-century piece features the classic Blue Willow landscape - pagodas, the lovers in flight, the bridge, the willow tree - all rendered in rich cobalt blue. The shape is wonderful: a sturdy rounded crock form with small side handles and a fitted lid, making it both decorative and functional.

This piece was made in Japan during the 1950s-60s as part of the popular Blue Willow revival era. It has the softer glaze, slight irregularities, and gentle hand-done quality typical of mid-century Japanese export ceramics.
