Summary
Tall antique Bohemian art glass vase in a bright spring green with optic swirl panels and hand enameled floral decoration. The waisted silhouette and textured body give the piece wonderful movement and sparkle, especially in natural light.
Dating and Background
Likely Bohemian, c. 1890–1910. The molded optic swirl body, clear green glass, and simple enamel flowers are consistent with late 19th to early 20th century Central European production for the decorative export market. The vase is blown and molded rather than pressed and shows the slight irregularities and bubbles typically associated with hand work of the period. It does not fluoresce under black light, so it should be regarded as standard green glass rather than uranium glass.
Collector Notes
This is a very usable size and color for today’s interiors: tall enough for dramatic arrangements, yet light and transparent so it does not visually weigh down a tabletop. Collectors of Bohemian and Central European art glass will appreciate the combination of optic texture and enamel work. It mixes easily with clear crystal, cut glass, and other colored pieces, and it offers a more unusual form than the standard cylinder vases of the period.
Decorating Ideas
Perfect on a sideboard, center hall table, or mantel filled with seasonal branches or flowers. The clean waisted profile works well in both traditional and eclectic rooms. The vivid green glass adds a fresh accent against neutral walls, and the red enamel flowers pick up red, coral, or terracotta tones elsewhere in the room. It also looks striking grouped with other colored glass vases of varying heights.
