Produced by Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, this quadruple-plated bridal basket dates to the late Victorian through Edwardian period (circa 1890–1915).
The form features a footed pedestal, ribbed lower body, and a finely cast swing handle decorated with ornamental scrolls characteristic of Pairpoint’s higher-end production. The interior surface is engraved with birds, flowering branches, and radiating botanical elements, corresponding to Pairpoint’s documented “Birds & Flowers” etched series, cataloged as pattern No. 1223.
Quadruple plate of this weight and scale was designed for wedding presentation, confection service, or table display, and represents the peak of Pairpoint’s American silverplate craftsmanship. Provenance details unknown; acquired directly from a Northern California collection.
