A wonderful French Art Nouveau art glass jewelry box, exquisitely crafted in molded lilac glass with intricate pattern-molded and possibly etched details throughout. The refined design and delicate coloration evoke the artistry of Daum Nancy, one of France’s most celebrated glassmakers of the early 20th century.
Although unmarked, this example is attributed to Daum Nancy based on form, color, and technique. It is important to note that many authentic Daum pieces produced prior to circa 1914 were not signed, as the practice of consistently acid-etching the Daum Nancy mark became standard only in the years leading up to and following World War I.
Produced circa 1910–1920, at the height of the Art Nouveau movement, this elegant lidded box embodies the era’s organic motifs and subtle sophistication. The translucent lilac hue captures and reflects light beautifully, revealing fine surface texture and soft tonal variations.
