A wonderful antique French Malicorne Pouplard-Beatrix oval platter with a Breton man in traditional costume at the center and a stylized floral border around the rim. After traveling to Brittany, France in 1891, Leon Populard started producing faience pieces in the style of those he saw being produced by the potteries of Quimper. Marked on the reverse with an impressed 5 to denotes the size. Late 19th to early 20th century.
In excellent condition with a small glaze fleck and an area of glaze crawling on the rim (see photos).
Dimensions are 12" long x 8 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" high.
