This is an original antique Victorian or Renaissance Revival console mirror with a scalloped edge pier table base, commonly referred to as an étagère. It is made of a dark carved wood, likely rosewood, mahogany, or walnut, a popular choice for this style of furniture. The underside of the base top has a nice red color to it consistent with old rosewood or mahogany. Possibly mid to late 1800's.
Style: The ornate and substantial carvings, tall structure, and dark wood are characteristic of the Victorian era, particularly the Renaissance Revival or Rococo Revival styles popular in the mid to late 19th century.
Function: This type of furniture was typically placed in an entryway (as pictured) or hallway and served as a functional piece for last-minute checks in the mirror, and this one includes a two small shelves on the base for keys or a glove box.
Design Details: The piece features a prominent, highly carved crest at the top, decorative pilasters framing the large mirror, and an elaborate base with curved supports and two lower shelves. The design features two separate pieces, a base 69" x 35" and the framed mirror 59" x 91". The base is sturdy and will support the weight of the mirror. However, consideration should be given to placement in your home as the mirror has to be anchored to a wall stud. Overall size is 69" x 21" x 126".

Item is in great condition. Some scuffs and scratches consistent with the age, but a well built, sturdy piece. It does needs oiling. Did not oil as it will need to be moved soon. Upper main mirror was replaced 50 years ago and is in excellent condition. Lower mirror is the original mirror, at least 140 years old, with nice foxing, mottled appearance. Small finial missing, available separately on Etsy. Small top right side piece of trim is missing. I have the piece and will send it with the item.
