About the artist :
Peter Max (born October 19, 1937) is a German-American artist renowned for his vibrant and psychedelic art that embodies the spirit of the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Berlin, Max spent much of his early life in Shanghai and Israel before moving to the United States in 1953. He studied art at the Art Students League of New York, where he honed his craft. Max gained fame as a prominent figure of the Pop Art movement, creating colorful, cosmic, and dreamlike imagery that became iconic in American culture. His works, often characterized by bold lines, vivid colors, and surreal themes, appeared on posters, album covers, and even U.S. postage stamps. Over his career, he explored themes of environmentalism, peace, and pop culture, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential visual artists of his era.
