This vintage mid century modern Womb lounge chair designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll is from the early 1950s. The Saarinen Womb chair is an elegantly sculptural and incredibly comfortable chair that has come to be a highly collectible mid-century modern icon. This authentic vintage chair has been professionally restored by our team of experts and is the perfect showpiece for home, office or hospitality setting.

Exclusive Fabric Offering
In keeping with Florence Knoll's request to Eero Saarinen to design "a chair that was like a basket full of pillows, something she could really curl up in", this reimagined Womb chair offers a unique woolly fabric choice that matches the chair design in comfort and coziness while maintaining a streamlined profile. This exclusive fabric offering features premium "Margarete" wool bouclé from designer fabric house Schumacher. Margarete is a thick, knotted wool fabric with a soft, nubby texture that features densely woven, full-bodied loops with a soft, "pillowy" cotton feel. The "ivory-on-charcoal" color features a gorgeous shade of ivory set on a dark charcoal gray background adding another layer of dimensionality.

CONDITION
Excellent restored condition. Reupholstered in Schumacher Margarete fabric in "Ivory-on-Charcoal". New Knoll chair base with polished chrome finish and stainless steel and nylon glides. Knoll logo embossed on leg. Some chair examples retain original Knoll Associates, Inc. 36-30 Steinway Street label, shown for reference.
